Yes, I know an award doesn’t mean anything… BUT IM SO HAPPY I FINALLY GOT IT T>T i mean it was quite depressing seeing your whole feed full of Liebster Nominees without your name HAHA maybe it’s a sign of how lousy I am as a blogger XD
What is the Liebster Award?
From the Official Website:
“The Liebster Award was created to recognize and/or discover other bloggers.
It has German origins – the word “liebster” has several definitions: dearest, sweetest, kindest, nicest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, welcome, sweetheart and boyfriend.
The choice lies within each of us to ACCEPT it, and continue PAYING IT FORWARD or to refuse to accept it, thereby STOPPING or INTERRUPTING the chain. However, if you stop the chain, you are only hurting yourself.
I would like to add that you can nominate someone who already has been given this award, as long as they have less than 1000 followers/subscribers. The idea behind this award is to recognize new bloggers and help promote them! The benefit is that you get from doing this is that you get some promotion, too! (Think about it, if they are obligated to link to you, then whomever lands on their site could also click the link and land on yours. If you multiply the number of people who can potentially see and land on your blog, you can clearly see that you will get more readers, more business and reach more people. This is just another way to help get your blog “out there”!) ”
1) What made you start a blog?
In July 2014, I realised that watching anime alone was not a meaningful activity. Since I had a personal blog back then, I decided to start another blog, which would revolve around anime. However, I didn’t want to be like the thousands of anime review blogs; I wanted to be unique and outstanding. So, I asked myself, “What do you want to give the readers?” And the first thought that came to my mind, was encouragement and motivation. Thus, I wrote posts on perseverance and optimism. The more I wrote, the more diverse my topics became, and then, it transformed into the Zyrogate Faine you see here today :3
2) What’s one show you would consider a hidden gem?
Selector Infected/Spread WIXOSS
Okay, it’s not the best anime ever, but I extremely loved it. Why? Simply because it exceeded all of my initial expectations. I originally perceived it to be a cute, flashy anime that focused on the theme of perseverance, especially when the MC is battling against a tough, overbearing opponent. But not only did it accomplish that, the friendship in Season 1 was utterly sweet and the “Despair VS Hope” theme was just superb in Season 2. Darkest anime I have ever seen, both metaphorically and literally ((I swear the kidnapping scene was so dark even with max brightness)) As dark as it may be, it is definitely not dull, and it really shines as bright as any well done anime in the industry. In my opinion, this anime is truly a hidden gem.
3) Who is your favourite character in anime or outside of anime?
I like a handful of characters, but no character that I have seen, has ever been able to catch my full attention and overwhelm me with its personality. Similar to real life, I have yet to find the one for me 🙂
But if I were just to consider appearance solely, it would have to be Takeru from Kamigami no Asobi :3
4) What is one superpower you would like to have?
Now, before you start calling me dumb, I’d like to defend myself.
Take Inou-Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de (When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace) for example. They definitely possessed one of the best superpowers in the world: the power to manipulate time, the power to materialize any object, THE POWER TO CTRL-Z ANYTHING.
But could any of them get Andou to fall in love with them? Could Chifuyu use her powers to solve her friendship problems with Kuki? Could Sayumi use her powers to become a perfect lady? And could Hatoko use her powers to understand WHAT THE HECK ANDO IS TALKING ABOUT SOMETIMES?
Indeed, superpowers could solve certain struggles and make life more convenient and comfortable. But it cannot solve everything. Furthermore, these struggles in life are what makes us who we are! We have overcome those obstacles through sheer determination, sweat and toil. Through those obstacles, we have grown as a human being, as an individual. If we used our superpowers to ramp through all those walls, all that’s left is a pile of rubble. Instead, we could look for the entrance, obtain the key, and walk through the door of success.
And anyways, I believe in facts and science, so here’s the hard truth: superpowers do not exist.
5) Do you have a least favourite show?
Nope I don’t exactly have a least favourite show. There are some which I do not like, but I don’t exactly rank the bottom few.
6) What’s the funniest joke you’ve ever come across in anime?
Dang. I really can’t rmb any… I should try to save some of the screencaps in the future. Well, if you want jokes, you could watch Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, it was one of the funniest anime I watched.
7) Who is one character you identify yourself with most?
I identify myself most with Sheele from Akame ga Kill! Even though she was the first member to die, she left the most significant impact on me, for I could empathise with her. Throughout her life, she wanted to be useful to others. She had a knack for killing people, so she wanted to utilize this skill to help others. I, too, want to be of use to others. Sorry for this analogy, but I don’t mind if they use me as a condom and throw me away, I just want to contribute to their life. When I die, I want to be at least remember for all the things I have done for others, such that I won’t die hollow and empty. Despite dying, Sheele definitely succeeded in her life goal. She sacrificed herself for Mine, and that’s the biggest contribution anyone can ever give.
Plus, I find myself to be quite quiet as well, similar to Sheele. However, I also have this scary, cold personality inside of me, which very rarely surfaces, only in extreme conditions. Like Sheele, I only display this attitude to people that I hate, whom tends to be individuals that hurt/bully others. I unleashed this fury twice so far, but I hope that it won’t surface again? So please don’t make me angry ^^
8) When you are feeling sad, what cheers you up most of all?
I blast anime songs on my earpieces, especially uplifting songs like Dancing Dolls from Soul Eater Not!, and Hanayamata from Hanayamata.
9) What is the one thing you would most like to do this year?
To carry out the action which is synonymous to the act of stepping out of the cupboard 🙂
10) Which was your favourite anime of this year/last year?
Last Year: Nagi no Asukara / No Game No Life
This Year: Death Parade / Assassination Classroom
I know it is too early to say for 2015, but both of them are one of the best anime I have ever seen, though I have only watched around 100 anime.
11) If you could change one thing about anime, what would it be?
Gay and lesbian couples (Yaoi & Yuri) becoming a normal occurrence in mainstream anime, even if they are merely side characters. There are a lot of Yaoi & Yuri anime now, but they are always classified under the ‘Yaoi’ or ‘Yuri’ category. I want to change it such that Yaoi & Yuri becomes assimilated into normal anime as a minor aspect, and majority of people do not mind it. This will then hopefully lead to a slight improvement in attitude towards homosexuals in real life.
